CHARTER NIGHT 2011

CHRISTMAS 2010

Despite the terrible weather the Christmas Float went out every night as planned. Takings were slightly up on last year at £3,343.20 which was a magnificent effort. Many thanks to all Lions and Helpers, and especially to the members of the public who gave so generously.

We also collected £1251.39 at the supermarkets Tesco, Asda and the Coop. This was understandably down on last year.

Unfortunately the pub collection planned for Saturday 18th had to be cancelled due to the snow.

OTHER CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES   2008

The Xmas float has finished its journey around the town and surrounding areas for another year. We managed to raise around £3500 for our charity fund as well as giving countless joy (and sweets!) to hundreds of children.  In addition the pub collection managed almost £700 in one evening, and collections at the supermarkets for the new Xmas float raised almost £2000 (see below). It has been a busy time for the Lions and their families and helpers.

The old Xmas float (pictured here) has served us and the community of St. Austell very well over a number of years, and is nearing the end of its life. Pictured here on its last round before the new one takes to the road in 2009
